Located on 200 beautiful acres near the bluffs of the Mississippi River Valley, the shrine, through nine lovely devotional areas, blends spirituality, unique architecture and imaginative landscaping to create a serene setting. In downtown St. Louis visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis which features some of the finest marble and glass mosaics in the country. Stops will also be made at the Gateway Arch, Museum of Westward Expansion and Union Station. Travel to the historic town of St. Charles and enjoy time at the National Shrine of St. Philippine Duchesne, a frontier-era nun from France who volunteered to be a missionary in America in the early 19th-century. Mother Duchesne helped found six convents and was responsible for opening up many schools throughout Missouri and Louisiana.
